A great masterpiece. Formerly known as “Sakuma hagashu” or “Kanamori hagashu. According to the “Chawiki Handbook,” “Unzan is a cut, with a pattern woven out of the same color on a purple ground, and the name is derived from the fact that this cut is hung on it. It was originally owned by Toyotomi Hideyoshi and passed down to Sakuma Fuusai, then to a family in Sakai, and later to Kanamori Izumo no Mamoru Kashige, who bought it for 100 gold pieces, and presented it to the shogunate when his son Shigeyori died, but it was returned to the same family. (Ehime Prefecture) to Sadanao Matsudaira Oki, lord of Matsuyama Castle in Iyo Province (Ehime Prefecture). Sadanao was the son of Takahiro’s daughter-in-law. Later, in 1784, the castle tower of Matsuyama Castle caught fire during a lightning storm, but fortunately the original form was not lost and remains to this day.
It was left unburned and no repairs have been made to it. (Taisho Meikikan)
