This is a type of powder color with an extremely beautiful crimson color, and like other types of powder color, it was at its best during the Yongzheng period (1723-35). In the early Ch’ien-lung period (1736-95), fine and lusterless pieces similar to Yongzheng were still seen, but it is said that these were made in Yongzheng and glazed in the Yongzheng dynasty, and the signatures were added after the Ch’ien-lung emperor’s accession to the throne. It is said that fat red wares made after the Ch’ien-lung reign often have a coarse glaze and dark complexion. (Ya Ya)
