Chukyo’s specialty. Hakuan tea bowl. This is a Hakuan tea bowl that was passed down through the Okuda family. According to various tea ceremony books, it is said to have been made by Fujishiro I, Kiseto of the Rikyu period, or around the time of Fujishiro II. The outside of the bowl has a shallow wheel and there is a crack around the waist that spans a quarter of the bowl. The gallstone glaze, which has a lot of scenery, hangs down like an ice screen around this fire crack and stops when it reaches the clay. The following part shows the clay, and the rim of the base is thin. The yellow glaze is flying from the rim to the inside of the bottom as promised. It is probably one of the five most famous tea bowls in the Hakuan collection. It was owned by Honda Iyomori, but passed through Okuda Hachiroemon to Matsudaira Fumai in 1860 (Ansei 7), and has been in the Unshu Matsudaira family since then. (Taisho Meikikan)
