This type of pottery was made from finely powdered siliceous clay instead of earthenware clay. The pottery that appeared in Egypt around 3,000 B.C. was somewhat different from that of today. This was probably the first pottery that could be called pottery. The appearance of pottery in Egypt dates to around the first century B.C.
