Geta-in (geta mark)

marusankakusikaku

A vessel with two stripes on the bottom like geta teeth.
The geta wake in Iga and the adder ware in Shigaraki are well-known. Both were made because the potter’s wheel was incomplete. Geta marks can also be found in Ko-Tamba and Tokoname. The Tamba ones are shaped like Shigaraki geta marks of the period, long, and distant. Tokoname’s clogs are somewhat similar to those of Shigaraki of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, with both geta de geta and geta iriguchi (in) geta.
Some of Tokoname’s geta marks date from the late Heian period (794-1185). (Iga and Shigaraki, Chawan, 14)
