Kono river stone

A raw material for Tobe ware in Ehime Prefecture. Also written “Kounogawa-ishi”. It is mined from the area facing the Seto Inland Sea in Futami Town, Iyo County.
It is a feldspar stone and is used as a raw material for glazes or to increase the firepower of a base material with a high degree of fire. It was discovered by Yujiro Morimoto, a potter in Tobe. (Shinichi Terauchi)
