This Tokuri-shaped handled jar is a copy of a water jar made of celadon porcelain, brown glaze, etc., from the Late Tang Dynasty in China and is one of the characteristic products of the Sanage kiln. A number of ash-glazed products and green-glazed earthenware elements were fired. This green-glazed handled jar was discovered in February 1979, along with an ash-glazed long-necked jar, in a pit dug into the floor within the No. 4 dwelling site at the Nishiura Site. It is the only green-glazed handled jar known today with a perfect appearance, slightly lacking part of the mouth rim. Judging from the base and glaze tone, it is thought to be a product of the Sanage kiln. The base has been carefully polished and adjusted with a bright green glaze, but uneven glaze is noticeable in places.
