The first name of Raku ware. The name “Jurakuyaki” is said to have been given by Hideyoshi Toyotomi to Raku ware after Chojiro II made tiles of the Juraku-dai (the second largest building in Japan), and the name “Jurakuyaki” was given to it. It is also said that the name was derived from the fact that tea bowls were made from the red clay of the Juraku-dai. (Ceramic Artifacts Appendix, Novel of Honcho Ceramics)
