Specialty. Raku ware tea bowl, black, by Chojiro. Rikyu once sent three tea bowls to his pupil in Satsuma, who kept this one and sent back the other two. Rikyu named the bowl “Toshikan” after the story of how Naritsune and Yasunori were forgiven and Toshikan was the only one left among the three exiles on Kikai-ga-jima Island. The tea glaze inside the bowl is particularly beautiful. It was later handed down to the Mitsui family. (Taisho Meikikan)
