Chouin

The seventh generation of Raku. He was the son of Sairi VI (also known as Sokichi Sokichi, Matakichi, or Soutai). In 1752, he shaved his head and took the name Choiryu from Chojiro the First. His work was always in a very idyllic manner, and he never ceased to be a master craftsman. The bowls with jade paintings, which are said to have been presented at the New Year, are said to have been made at the request of the Nyoshinsai company. He died in September 1770 at the age of 57.
