A Karatsu ware with a mottled white-gray glaze and an ame glaze. There is also a type with uneven white glaze on top of the rat-colored glaze without the ame glaze. Ishi is the most beloved of all Karatsu wares, along with ZEZE Karatsu, and its market price is high. It was probably made in the same period or slightly later than the Joseon karatsu. It is clearly recognizable as a Japanese design, having lost much of its Korean flavor. The shape is also consciously crafted with a great deal of skill, and the wari-taka-dai is made with a conscious awareness of the importance of its shape.
