A Chukoh specialty. Oribe ware tea caddy. It is named after a poem by Enshu Kobori, “Mikoto Tsukushi Koihuru Shirushi ni Komadeguri Hashiru Eno Shinashina” (The Tale of Genji), which is a poem about the depths of the ocean and the depths of the sea. This tea caddy is a witty and elegant Wabi-style tea caddy. The mouth rim is rounded without a twist back, and the shape of the mouth is irregular. The vertical half of the tea caddy is black, and the other half shows white, rat, burnt black, or bluish Oribe glaze. Originally owned by Kobori Enshu, it was handed down to Tsuchiya Sagamimori in 1694, and later to Matsudaira Fumai, and then to the Unshu family. (Meimono Ki, Kokin Meimono Ruiju, Meimono Shu, Rimpo Kameryu, Taisho Meikikan, etc.)
