The mouth is thin, the legs short, the shoulders extremely broad, the shins slightly narrowed, and the feet slightly thickened. The small diameter of the mouth is called a plum vase because of the plum’s barrenness. Vases of the Song dynasty in China favored this style because of its elegant shape. The Yuan, Ming, and early Qing dynasties all had this type of vase. The most common red color is based on the HUN kiln style. The colors of red are most often found in the same manner as those found in the Gyun kiln. (Yunryusai sesshyu)
