The mouth design, in which the apex of the upright neck is slightly turned outward, is one type of Echizen jar produced at the end of the Muromachi period (1336-1573). The shoulder of the ovoid body is decorated with a wavy pattern in thick chinkansen lines, and four horizontal ears are attached on top of the wavy pattern. It was fired using a sticky clay mixed with rice field clay, and the surface of the vessel has a smooth blackish brown color.
The surface of this relatively thin vessel has been adjusted with a brush.
