The clay from Miyamachi to Kise in the northern part of Shigaraki is low in feldspar and quartzite, very high in iron, and somewhat low in refractoriness. When fired, the clay has a slightly purplish blackish-brown color. The flat-bottomed vessel has a flat rim with an inward-tilted, slightly kinked edge, and is partially bent to form a single-lobed mouth. The interior is decorated with a six-striped comb pattern with grated decoration on the entire surface, and the bottom has an oblique lattice pattern. The origin of the grated surface is not yet known in Shigaraki, but over time it changed from a simple grating to a more dense grating. The grating on this small suribachi is a good material that can be used as a standard reference material for the late Muromachi period.
