This flat, circular mukozuke has a warped mouth rim with suriza on the outer three sides and square legs on the three sides of the flat bottom. The front is decorated with a stylized “sakura” (a Japanese warrior’s crest) in white, and the inside is decorated with a rim design. The two pieces shown here are similar to the ten other mukozuke we have seen, but only two of them have a tree design resembling an arrowhead painted in iron pigments on top of the outer surface of the oni-ita (panel). The rat-colored glaze tends to be a little bluish, but the reddish underside is vivid.
