This is a transitional piece with a decorative oniita (devil’s plate) surface. It is a flat, straightforward potter’s wheel-thrown bowl. The bowl is flat-bottomed and has no base, and the style suggests that it was made before the middle of the Tensho period in the Momoyama period (1573-1600). The prospect is decorated with a dot of chalcanthite. The potter’s wheel was not very conscious of this, and it seems to have been done carelessly.
