This is a typical example of Yashichida Oribe’s excellent work. The design of a plum tree painted with iron pigments and yellow ochre on the base is very elegant and graceful. As is Yashida’s habit, the green glaze is applied haphazardly, which seems to be somewhat excessive. There are six large round eye marks on the base of the bowl.
