This jar is modeled after a Lu-Song tea jar and was clearly made as a tea jar. The body is beaten, leaving marks on the surface, and the three sides of the shoulder have horizontal ears with double black lines around them. The body is covered with a black ame glaze from the mouth to the hem, but the glaze has been splattered due to the raw glaze, revealing the reddish clay. The fact that it has ears on three sides instead of four is characteristic of the Karatsu style. It is assumed to have been made by the Tani Kiln of the jar shop.
