This type of container is commonly referred to as a tane jar. It is not clear whether it was originally made as a miscellaneous vessel or as a water jar following the old style. The sharply twisted mouth and rounded shoulders with ears on two sides give it a simple appearance, and it is probably the most apologetic of all Bizen mizusashi. Almost the entire outer surface of the body is covered with a thick layer of ash, and one spot on the front shows a reddish spot, but this is a unique and interesting mizusashi. It has a lid with a reddish, freshly baked appearance. The string on the lid is interesting. The kiln mark is carved in spatula below the shoulder.
