Hatakeyama Memorial Museum
This vessel has a large, richly inflated lower part with seven ground seats on its shoulders. The body is covered with a beadlo glaze with a burnished surface due to a heavy ash fall on one half of the body, and two streaks of beadlo glaze flow over the reddish-black skin on the other half of the body. Many of this type of heavy-mochi-shaped mizusashi have a lid attached, but it is thought that the lid was always attached in later periods because the taste of the mizusashi deepens when the lid is attached.
