This suizashi is also said to have belonged to Rikyu. Some say that it is one of the three famous Senke mizusashi (three water containers), called “Yang Kui,” “Kaze Ori,” and “Iso Shimizu,” or “Kaze Ori,” “Iso Shimizu,” and “San Yu”. Therefore, adding “Shibian” and “Koshi Ori” suggests that the six Shigaraki mizusashi were referred to as the three masterpieces by three mouthfuls or sets.
Since all of them are inscribed with the calligraphy of Omotesenke VI Kakusai Haraso, it can be inferred that they became famous during the Haraso period.
The shape of the vessel is a simple sun-doro form, slightly thinly molded in the shape of a sumac tree. The clay is soft and dark brown in color, with a brownish-brown glaze covering the front mouth and body. The bottom is flat and shows a soft base.
