Tamba Jar
Tamba Jar

Height 28.5 cm, mouth diameter 11.6 cm, body diameter 24.8 cm, bottom diameter 15.7 cm
The stroked shoulders are similar to those of a jar inscribed in Tensho 2. The entire surface is coated with red dobe, so it was probably fired in a climbing kiln during the so-called “kamaya” period after the Keicho era (1615-1868). The natural glaze is applied around the shoulder and flows down to the hem of the pot. This is one of the best jars of the Momoyama period. There are two or three spots on the body where the glaze has peeled off.
