This is an old kiln that has been in existence since the Middle Ages. Suribachi made before the Momoyama period are extremely rare in Tamba ware, and this piece is said to be the only one known to have survived from this period. The entire piece is heavily distorted, with striations on the prospective surface and natural glaze from the prospective surface to the sides, and it has been fired to a very tasteful appearance. It has a “sa” mark on the mouth.
