It may have been made as an incense burner, as it has small legs on three sides of the bottom, but is now used as a water jar. It is thick and made in a bag shape, with the open mouth held in eight directions to form a ring flower shape, with a line engraving of “rice” on the prospective value. The mouth and shoulders are covered with a dark brown natural glaze, and the clay skin has a brownish finish. This is a noble piece among Tamba ware of the Momoyama period.
