This is a sturdy, molded suizashi with a circular mouth covered with a lid, shell-shaped ears on the left and right sides, and feet in the style of animal feet on the four corners of the bottom.
The four sides of the body are decorated with a landscape design, but the underglaze blue is slightly blotchy.
The transparent glaze, which is applied thickly over the entire body, has a slightly bluish tinge and rough penetrations are visible.
The coloring of the underglaze blue is unusually bright for an early Imari ware.
It was probably fired in the Hyakuman kiln around the middle of the 17th century.
