Height 9.5 cm, diameter 22.2-5.9 cm
This graceful incense container beautifully captures the appearance of a tancho crane. The workmanship from the beak to the neck is a testament to Insei’s skill in sculpture.
The beak and part of the feathers are painted in iron with a white rusty glaze over the entire surface, the feathers on the back are painted in blue and gold, and the interior of the body is painted in green. The back of the lid and the bottom of the body are made of clay, as usual, with a white, soft, and fine clay body, and the left side of the bottom is stamped with a small seal of Insei. This is also one of the superior works among the Nisei incense containers.
