Ninsei: tea bowl with design of stylized plum blossoms, enamelled ware

Height 10.0 cm, mouth diameter 10.5 x 10.7 cm, high stand diameter 4.5 cm
This is a cylindrical tea bowl with a rounded waist, standing up easily, and the overall construction is rather thick. The mouth is slightly oval-shaped, and the inside of the base is shallow and rounded. The body is covered with feldspathic white glaze similar to that of the “Juucha-bowl” (Fig. 22), and the mouth, interior, and hem are covered with black glaze. The lid of the box is inscribed “Nisei-yaki Tea Bowl, Ume Hachihaku-yaki”, which is a very good example of a tea bowl that came from the Maeda family in Kaga.
