This is a copy of the Arima brush, one of the Kosometsuke-gata incense containers made during the Tenkei era at the end of the Ming Dynasty, and is considered to be one of the masterpieces of the Komei tea ceremony pottery. The lid of the box it came in is inscribed “Arima brush incense container”, and the bottom is inscribed “made by Komei, looking at old pottery”. The brush on the lid is finely and cutely rendered, and the body is decorated with a bamboo pattern on one side and a human figure pattern on the other, both in underglaze blue. The underglaze blue is light in color, and the square foot ring is low-made. There is no signature.
