This tea bowl has the three-leafed hollyhock crest of the Kishu Tokugawa family on three sides of the body, and was clearly made as a personal item for the Kishu Tokugawa family, and is famous as the original of this type of tea bowl with a family crest. The characters “Nifuku Tokai Joshu Nanzan” are painted in underglaze blue on the inside of the bowl, and the rest of the bowl is painted in overglaze enamels on a red background, with gold peony arabesque and jewelry patterns around the rim, and a crane and tortoise design in the center of the bowl. The three-leafed hollyhock and pine, bamboo and plum designs are arranged on the outside. The mark “Kahin Shiryū” is stamped on the side of the foot ring, and only the part of the mark is left with white glaze, and the inside of the foot ring is exposed. It is stored in a matching box, and the words “Kinrande Ocha-wan” are written on the front of the lid, and the words “Zengoro Zō” are written on the back of the bottom of the box, and the Eiraku mark is stamped on it. The poem on the inside of the box should originally have read “Hifuku Tokai”, but here it is written as “Nifuku”, and on the outer box, which was prepared by the Kishu Tokugawa family, it is written “Right: Copy of the calligraphy of Toshimasa”.
