The colors in this color reproduction are slightly paler than the actual piece. The actual piece has more vibrant colors, with the base clay appearing brighter and warmer. Additionally, the original colors of the iron painting on the body are more vivid and beautiful.
This tea bowl has an overall reddish hue, reminiscent of autumn leaves, and is likely named after the Tōtsū Bridge at Tōfuku-ji Temple in Kyoto, a famous spot for autumn foliage.
The foot is relatively large and double-layered. The double-layered foot is pressed in places to create a rustic texture. The base clay is a coarse, so-called “hundred-grass clay.”
The glaze is applied thickly, revealing triangular patches of the base clay, similar to the previously mentioned “Bridge with Figures” tea bowl.
