The provenance and use of this vessel are unknown. It has various characteristics of the 8th century, including a short, slightly outwardly upright neck, a well-shouldered body, and a high base with a strong base. The clay is of high quality and slightly iron-rich, similar to that used in the Sanage kiln, but this cannot be determined with certainty.
