Figures 207 and 208 depict bamboo lid rests for traditional Japanese fireplaces and brazier stoves, crafted using the Jiaozi glazing technique. The bamboo bark is rendered in green glaze, while the stem is colored with yellow glaze. The lid rest for the traditional Japanese fireplace bears the “Eiraku” mark on the exterior, and the lid of its box is inscribed with “Hikikiri-shaga-o-seki ④ Zen’gorō (signature).” The cover stand for the brazier bears the “Eiraku” mark on the inside, and the box is inscribed with “Jiaozhi-style bamboo ring cover stand” and “Made by Zenichiro.”
The cover stand in Figure 209 is modeled after celadon yagaku ware, with celadon glaze applied to the entire surface except for the tips of the legs. The “Eiraku” mark is stamped under the glaze on the body, and the lid of the box is inscribed with “Celadon Yagaku Lid Stand,” while the underside of the lid is inscribed with “Made by Hozon.”
Fig. 210 is a lid stand with a slightly open space at the top. The upper surface is coated with iron glaze; the interior is adorned with a continuous garland-style pattern in underglaze blue, while the upper and lower edges on the exterior are bordered with a continuous pattern, and a dragon and phoenix are also depicted in underglaze blue at the center. The interior bears the mark “Kawabami Shiryū,” and on either side of it, the underglaze blue inscription “Dainippon Eiraku-sei” is written separately. Figure 211, which bears the inscription “Dragon and Phoenix Underglaze-painted Lid Stand” on the lid’s exterior and “Made by Zen’gorō” on the lid’s interior, is a hand-molded lid stand formed by rolling out and shaping clay. On the exterior, a gourd motif is casually painted in underglaze, accompanied by the inscription “Whoever recognizes this, Nakazō Sekai Kan,” and the note “Made by Eiraku Hozon, with a single brushstroke of praise.” The “Kawabami Shiryū” seal is stamped where the clay layers meet; the top of the box lid is inscribed with “Sometsuke Gourd Painting Round Lid Stand,” and the underside of the lid bears the inscription “Seal: Hōzen-zō.”
