Gohon-style Sake Cup

Gohon-style Sake Cup
Gohon-style Sake Cup

Height: 3.7 cm; Mouth diameter: 5.9 cm; Base diameter: 2.7 cm
This sake cup, produced at the Busan kiln on the Korean Peninsula during the early Edo period, imitates the style of the so-called Gohon tea bowls. It features a Wu ware-style form with a high waist and a generously carved footring. A faint reddish hue appears on the glaze surface, which also closely replicates the glaze of the original model. A small “Eiraku” mark is stamped on the body, and the lid of the accompanying box is inscribed with “Gohon Sake-in” on the front and “In: Hozon-zō” on the back.
