This black tea bowl has a shape similar to the “Zan-getsu” piece, but the foot is slender, the base is flat, and the character “Raku” is stamped inside the foot. The bowl is fully glazed with black glaze, and while the exterior features drips of glaze, some areas where the glaze has cracked show long, narrow patches of yellowed clay. On the underside of the lid, Takusai has inscribed “Nonkou Black Tea Bowl: Zansetsu, Left (Seal),” and on the outer box, Ryōnyū has written in bold characters, “Black Tea Bowl by Nonkou.”
