This tea bowl features the characteristic style of Nagari ware, with gentle undulations at the rim and a rounded, flared body, giving it an overall plump and rounded appearance. It has a round base with a low footring; the area around the footring is carved with a relief pattern, while the interior of the footring features a distinct, swirling design carved into the clay. A round tea pool is formed at the bottom of the interior. From the foot to the body, the clay is left exposed on one side, while the rest is covered with a thick layer of milky white glaze. The clay is a rich, sticky red earth, and the white glaze has a faint reddish tint. A clear mark is stamped on the side of the foot, and on the lid, the 9th-generation Ryo-nyu has inscribed “Made by Chōnyu: Red Tea Bowl, 9th-generation Ryo-nyu.”
