The oral part of this vase appears to be warped and retains its old style, but it is new in that the body diameter is larger than the height and the bottom diameter is also larger. The two stripes on the shoulder and body are a new decorative technique.
The ash glaze is thicker, although the striations are still noticeable. There is iron glaze overflow from the shoulder to the body. The significance of this type of overflow decoration is unclear, but it is likely that it was used on vases from the end of the Kamakura period to the beginning of the Muromachi period (1333-1573).
