This jar was excavated together with a number of other vessels, including a well-known ash-glazed vase with a fish design, and was also used as a vase. This wide-mouthed jar with a high pedestal was a new type of vase that emerged in the Muromachi period (1333-1573), and is almost exclusively ash-glazed. Many examples are used as storehouse boneware. It has a one-tiered thrust band at the junction of the thick oral and shoulder joints, a five-ringed floral seal design on the shoulder with unusually four ears, and a seven-rowed chinkansen on the hip.
