 Katakuchi small vases appeared in the mid Kamakura period (1185-1333) and gradually increased in number, becoming one of the main types of vessels produced in the Muromachi period (1333-1573). This small katakuchi jar is typical of the early Muromachi period and is a magnificent piece with a brilliant light green glaze on a fine white base.
