14th century
Height 22.6 cm, mouth diameter 8.4 cm, body diameter 11.0 cm, bottom diameter 9.2 cm
This is one of the Buddhist vases from the peak of the Koseto period. It is a so-called “lily-shaped” vase with a petal-shaped mouth rim, and the body has a blurred shape. The upper half of the body is stamped with four sealed lotus flower motifs. It is water-ground and the mouth is covered on both sides with a ring. The iron glaze is blackish brown with a slight reddish tinge and is unevenly distributed. Judging from the form, this is a piece from the Nanbokucho period.
