 After the peak of the Kosedo period and into the Muromachi period (1336-1573), vases of all kinds abandoned patterns and standardized their shapes. This was because mass production was promoted along with the improvement of water-milling technology.
 This vase is another example of this trend. The firing efficiency of kilns was improved, and stable glazes were applied by oxidative firing. Thus, most Muromachi period ash glazes are yellowish green in color.
