Born on June 15, 1883 (Meiji 16). Ceramicist. Born in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture. Graduated from the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Letters, University of Tokyo. As a member of the National Treasure Committee, he made great achievements especially in the field of ceramics. He also presided over the Institute of Oriental Ceramics, and contributed to the world of science and technology by publishing the research journal “Ceramics”, “Oriental Ceramics Collection”, “Gosu Akae Zukan”, “Study of Satsuma Pottery”, etc. He made particular efforts to elucidate Chinese ceramics. He died on October 27, 1955, at the age of 72.
