Kikuzuki Goki

Specialty. Korean tea bowl, five bowls with autumn leaves. It is said that Kobori Enshu probably named this bowl “Kikuzuki Gogogi” because the glaze colors, blue and red, remind us of chrysanthemums and maple leaves in the ninth month of the lunar calendar. Originally owned by Hachirobei Sezugu at Gifu-ya in Kyoto, it was purchased by Soshio Toda for 1,000 ryo in 1833, later passed to Kamenosuke Hirase, and then to Ryoan Fujita in 1903 (Meiji 36).
