Kinome katatsuki

Kinome katatsuki

A great masterpiece. This tea caddy is by Han. The origin of the name is unknown, but it is likely that this tea caddy is associated with Kinome Castle in Omi Province (Shiga Prefecture). Originally owned by Fukushima Masanori, it was presented to Shogun Hidetada by his son Masatoshi in 1632 (Kan’ei 9) as a bequest from his father, and was later given to Maeda Toshitsune by Hidetada. (Taisho Meikikan)
