This is a kogi ware. It is said to be the oldest of all the kojiko incense containers. It is said to have been ordered by Enshu Kobori during his reign, and is undoubtedly from that period. As the numbering system also specifically mentions that it is an iroe (color painting), the vivid colors are outstanding. It was handed down from the Ozu family in Ise Province (Mie Prefecture) and is now in the possession of the Hatakeyama Memorial Museum of Fine Arts.
