This is one of the few Shigaraki vases with a “short” shaped neck. It is one of the few Shigaraki vases with a short, inverted mouth and neck, and is well finished, with a reddish brown surface and natural glaze on the interior. The shoulder is inscribed with a walking figure of a bird. The lines are so shallow that they can be missed if one is not careful, but the use of the brush is superb, and the feathers and other details are beautifully depicted with simple brushwork.
