Chōjirō: tea bowl, Red Raku

Chōjirō: tea bowl, Red Raku

Height 9.2cm, Bowl diameter 9.8cm, Stand diameter 4.2cm
This is probably the smallest of Chojiro’s red tea bowls that have been handed down from generation to generation. Moreover, its workmanship is close to the black tea bowl “Ayame” and has an old style.
The lower part is held inward, a part of the body is slightly tightened, and the waist is rounded and raised. The height of the stand is small, and the width of the helmet is carved out inside the stand. The glaze applied to the entire body is soft, which is common to “Muichimono” and other types of vessels, and the bottom clay is also quite thick. On the back of the lid of the inner box, “Choujiro Red Tea Bowl (Hanaseki)” is written by Bunshaku Somori. This is a tea bowl that has never been introduced before.
