This work is similar to the “Hagoromo” but is more unrestrained. The mouth is oval-shaped, the waist is made in a caressing square shape, and the body is tightened at the waist, and the edges are warped.
The wide bottom has a rim with a rudimentary base, and the rusty clay surface has a deep flavor. The glaze is also visible in a few places on the clay surface. The body is covered with paintings of distant mountains, pine trees, willows, pavilions, and tortoiseshell motifs, all painted with unrestrained brushwork. The glazed surface of the rim has marks left by the sagger during firing, and a cross-shaped kiln mark has been carved in relief on the side of the base. Three small eye marks remain on the spacious prospect. It is believed to have been made in the Oyamuda-do kiln.
The inscription “Asahi Kagayo” is based on the meaning of an ancient poem “Chihayafuru Jinji no Yama no Asahi Kakeru Ya Kimi Kadai ni Kumori Aarasuna” written by Yabuuchi Chikusui, which is pasted on the back of the lid.
