Shino flower pot of tabimakura type

Height 16.6 cm, mouth diameter 8.9 cm, bottom diameter 9.7 cm
 Hatakeyama Memorial Museum
This vase was clearly made as a hanging vase. It is a so-called “traveling pillow vase” in a cylindrical shape, but as expected of Mino potters, unlike Shigaraki potters, they make decorative vases. The body is decorated on three sides with willow trees, sazaburo, and wildflowers. The entire surface is covered with well-melted white, but the glaze has rounded off in some parts of the body, and faint red burns appear in some places, forming a scene. It is pierced on two sides with a link on one side and has a flat bottom.
No other similar examples have been found so far. It is believed to have been made at the Naka Kiln or Muta-do Kiln in Ohgaya. It was handed down to the Konoike family in Osaka.
