This is an excellent example of a series of one-character incense containers, of which “Mannensei Incense Container” is a representative example. The entire surface is covered with a smooth white glaze, and the sides and base show a bright reddish hue.
This type of Ichimonji incense container is estimated to have been made at a kiln under the Daikyuan kiln.
